Cultivated on Monte Saro, dried in the sun and worked by hand. Oregano is a typically Mediterranean plant, which lives in full sun and in summer produces small pink flowers, gathered in pan-shaped inflorescences. The plant gives off a strong aroma that is appreciated in the southern cuisine, and in particular on pizzas.
The active ingredients that give rise to the aroma and its health properties are mainly phenols and essential oils. These substances give the plant antiseptic, analgesic, expectorant and tonic properties.
Its Mediterranean origin requires that the cultivation is carried out in full sun; during the growth, the oregano is irrigated regularly but without creating conditions of excessive humidity.
The Gustarosso oregano is grown on the mountains of the Valle del Sarno, in particular on Monte Saro.
Ingredients: dried and minced oregano by hand.
Recommended uses: used to flavor pizzas (like marinara pizza) and in general summer dishes, such as mozzarella caprese and tomatoes seasoned with oil; used to season tomato sauces.
