The lemon delight is a sweet pastry originally from Sorrento, which has become a dessert typical of Neapolitan cuisine.
It was designed by the pastry chef Carmine Sorrentino Marzuillo in 1978, and is a cake made with a base of sponge cake, soaked with a syrup made from lemon, and topped with cream and covered with lemon-based.
It's now become one of the most popular desserts in the Campania region, along with baba and caprese cake, lunches and dinners for important, especially for weddings and communions, which have particular importance in the region.
It is sold today as pie pastry is that in one-piece versions. The one-piece often has the shape of a breast (for example in Procida), being made of hemispherical cups, and once poured and covered with lemon cream, decorated with wild strawberries on the top.
