The still red wine Aglianico del Vulture is an oenological product with Controlled Denomination of Origin (DOC) described by some experts as the Barolo of the south.
This red-fruit vine is grown in the Vulture area, a territory that presents optimal climatic and morphological conditions for the breeding of these particular vines.
Like all the vines of Aglianico, also that of Vulture has very ancient origins, it is believed, in fact, that it was introduced by the Greeks in southern Italy between the seventh century and the sixth century BC.
Grapes: Aglianico
Fermentation: Alcoholic fermentation and maceration in steel tanks for about 3-4 weeks.
Maturation: 18 months in medium toasted Allier barriques.
Aging: Minimum 8 months in bottle.
Organoleptic test: Ruby red with purple reflections.
On the nose the initial impact is of fruit, sour cherry jam, ripe blackberry and plum, followed by spicy and toasted nuances
Thick and soft tannins. Balsamic and vanilla notes blend in a persistent finish.
Gastronomic combinations: An ideal red wine with game, medium-aged cheeses and elaborate pastas and cod.
