Panforte comes from an ancient Sienese dessert called "panmelato". The original recipe was embellished when the "apothecaries", ancient pharmacists, added precious spices from the East. Then in 1879 the pharmacist Galgano Parenti, owner of one of the main producers of panforte who later joined the Sapori family, created a new version of the panforte and dedicated it to Queen Margherita of Savoy, visiting Siena for the August Palio. Today, as then, whole sweet almonds, orange peel, melon, candied citron blend to create a unique dough, always stretched by hand to ensure all the authenticity of the taste.

INGREDIENTS :
Orange peel, melon and candied citron 41% (orange peel, melon and cedar, glucose-fructose syrup, sugar, acidifier: citric acid), wheat flour, sugar, almonds 13%, glucose-fructose syrup, icing sugar 1.5% (sugar, corn starch), starch wafers (potato starch, water), spice mixture 0.3%. May contain soy and other nuts. Store in a cool, dry place.
