The mustaccioli or mustacciule are prepared biscuits that are bells for the Christmas holidays. Their name is linked to the old peasant preparations, which used the juice to make the dough even sweeter: mustacea was their Latin name.
They rhomboid, a soft dough with honey and spices, and are covered with dark chocolate frosting.
The whiskers are the bushy mustache and wore them as long as the lords of the past: the mustaccioli, delicious sweets of ancient tradition which we find mentioned in many literary and theatrical Neapolitan, are so called because its reminiscent of the mustache, because of their rhomboid. The mustaccioli are prepared in the Campania region over the Christmas period: these are cookies that may have different thickness, depending on the process of paste made from honey, flour, water, yeast and spices, after processing the dough is left to stand and then cooked in the oven. Eventually, the mustaccioli are covered with icing sugar white or black, obtained by adding to the white unsweetened cocoa powder. The mustaccioli you can buy in all the workshops during the Christmas period.
